Make a bacteria model.
Students are given the following supplies to model a prokaryotic cell: Gel capsule, 16’ thread, glitter glue, 
regular glue, petroleum jelly, cotton ball, wax paper, ruler, toothpicks.  Students must verbalize what each ingredient represents. Also, What is major defining characteristic that identifies cell as prokaryotic?


Students will simulate the spread of the HIV Virus. Supplies:
Cups/test tubes with water, one cup/test tube with NaOH, gloves. One cup per student. First situation 
will have 5-6 exchanges of body fluid. I will add drop to each of phenolphthalein at end for count of 
exposures. Do you remember what we used phenolphthalein as an indicator for last time?
We will discuss the viral portion of chapter 20. Slides 1-18 and all videos related to same.
